During stage one of the programme, you’ll refine your research proposals and skills during a series of workshops, while researching and writing academic papers as the basis for your portfolio. Moving on to stage two, you’ll research and develop your thesis, with extensive support from our experienced academic staff and practitioners in the field.
Our strong links with industry provide excellent opportunities for research studies, and you can use your own workplace as the focus for your research.

Teaching and assessment
Anglia Ruskin's academic excellence was recognised in 2014, as part of theResearch Excellence Framework (REF), an exercise which assesses the quality of academic research. Twelve areas of our work were classed as generating world-leading research. The results showed that we're making a significant impact on economies, societies, the environment and culture in all corners of the globe.
You'll need to hold a Master’s degree in a cognate area awarded by a UK university, or an overseas Master’s degree of equivalent standard, and have appropriate professional experience.
If English is not your first language, you’ll also need a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.
Entry requirements are for January, April, June, and September. Entry requirements for other intakes may differ.
Please note that due to the delivery approach of this programme, students studying this course are not eligible for Tier 4 Sponsorship.
Research training is an integral part of this course and will let you develop transferable skills in research methods, report writing, academic publishing, conference presentations, personal effectiveness and more.
