Students on this course will get a good understanding of fundamental business concepts as well as key theories in human resource management. They will get to grips with people management and learn how strategic human resource planning can help an organisation succeed.

This degree helps students to build an understanding of the techniques that are used in the management of people at work, as well as developing crucial decision-making abilities, and analytical skills. This course can also act as a foundation for further study in either business or human resource management, and includes the opportunity to qualify for the CMI Level 5 Extended Diploma in Management and Leadership.

Furthermore, students will gain valuable experience in elements of research, presentation, and communication skills – traits that they will need to contribute to effective managerial behaviour.

Why this course?

This course offers students a thorough grounding in business and in the specialist concepts and applications involved in effective people management. Students will discover the relational nature of human resource management through highly interactive workshops, led by tutors with professional experience.

With a high level of contact in small groups and individual access to a personal tutor, students will be supported in their learning and have the opportunity to practise their employability skills throughout the course.

In addition, You will receive accreditation from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) in Management and Leadership alongside your degree – leaving future employers, clients and business partners in no doubt as to your knowledge of business and human resource management.

This degree is designed specifically to give students the academic knowledge needed to succeed in human resources management as well as the practical experience required in order to become a vital part of any business

Who is this course for?
This degree is ideal for those interested in a career as a human resources manager or those interested in any other aspect of business management.
How will you learn?

This course is delivered in an interactive way, with learning taking place both in and outside the classroom environment.

In Years 1 and 2, four contact hours per module per week are split between two 2 hour small workshops, so as to promote group interaction and facilitate personal support.

In the final year, three contact hours per module per week are split between an hour lecture and a 2 hour small workshop.

This means students should expect 12 hours of overall contact time per week in Year 1 and Year 2, and 9 hours of overall contact time per week in Year 3.

Face-to-face learning is supported by online resources, including the Financial Times, case studies, simulations, learning videos, reading materials, online testing, and feedback. Students will receive their core textbooks free of charge.

In addition, all De Broc programmes are supported by our Virtual Learning Environment: Elite. This is the first point of call for academic information, such as details of assessments, lecture sequences and online copies of all study materials.

Students also have access to our online library facilities and learning resources from the Chartered Management Institute, the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Financial Times. These resources provide a range of professional and business based materials that represent the latest market trends, with sector-based articles and analysis reports.

The programme involves a considerable amount of group work and group assessment, and up to 25% of the assessment takes this form. The assessments are designed to meet the learning outcomes both academically and professionally. This involves seminars, workshops, tests, presentations, assignments, and exams.
