This degree offers an excellent grounding in business and marketing. It will help students develop decision-making and analytical skills, as well as acting as a foundation for further study.
The course covers the relational nature of marketing, as well as how strategic marketing planning and marketing communications can help an organisation succeed in an international context. Students will also be able to qualify for the CMI Level 5 Extended Diploma in Management and Leadership, and gain an exemption from the Chartered Institute of Marketing for the Level 4 Marketing module within the Certificate in Professional Marketing.
This course delivers the skills to become effective managers, able to operate efficiently in a variety of organisations in today’s changing business environment. This includes skills in communications, presentation, and research, alongside team work and problem solving.
The course equips graduates to become valued employees, able to make an immediate and effective contribution to the workplace and become responsible global citizens.

This course will help students achieve a career in business or marketing, offering a thorough grounding in both areas. Students will learn in an intense, interactive environment, guided by experienced tutors and benefiting from significant contact hours in small groups. In addition to this, each student will have a personal tutor to advise them throughout the course.
By the time you finish our course, you’ll have gained a diploma from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and an exemption from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) alongside your degree, and will have the skills and knowledge you need to become a leading business or marketing professional.
Students will develop the skills that are required to become career-ready, gaining a formal qualification and building a skills portfolio to impress future employers.

How will you learn?
This course is delivered in an interactive way, with learning taking place both in and outside the classroom environment.
In Years 1 and 2, four contact hours per module per week are split between two 2 hour small workshops, so as to promote group interaction and facilitate personal support.
In the final year, three contact hours per module per week are split between an hour lecture and a 2 hour small workshop.
This means students should expect 12 hours of overall contact time per week in Year 1 and Year 2, and 9 hours of overall contact time per week in Year 3.
Face-to-face learning is supported by online resources, including the Financial Times, case studies, simulations, learning videos, reading materials, online testing, and feedback. Students will receive their core textbooks free of charge.
In addition, all De Broc programmes are supported by our Virtual Learning Environment: Elite. This is the first point of call for academic information, such as details of assessments, lecture sequences and online copies of all study materials.
Students also have access to our online library facilities and learning resources from the Chartered Management Institute, the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Financial Times. These resources provide a range of professional and business based materials that represent the latest market trends, with sector-based articles and analysis reports.
The programme involves a considerable amount of group work and group assessment, and up to 25% of the assessment takes this form. The assessments are designed to meet the learning outcomes both academically and professionally. This involves seminars, workshops, tests, presentations, assignments, and exams.
Students will study for three years with two semesters in each year.
In Years 1 and 2 in each semester, you’ll study three 20-credit modules followed by three modules in Year 3.
In the first year, you’ll take the foundations that all our business courses are built on before you specialise:
- Essentials of Management
- Academic and Professional Studies
- Principles of Marketing
- Accounting and Finance
- International Business Environment
- Managing and Leading People
(Each module worth 20 credits)
In Year 2, your marketing specialism will take shape with dedicated courses to engage you in the latest marketing sector thinking and provide the foundations for your optional internship. You’ll complete the following modules:
- Customer Behaviour
- Marketing Communications in a Digital World
- Corporate Responsibility
- Third Sector Experience
- Personal and Professional Development
- Information and Resource Management
(Each module worth 20 credits)
The final year will consist of four modules:
- Sector Specific Project (40 credits)
- Sector Internship or equivalent (40 credits)
- International Digital Marketing (20 credits)
- Strategic Management (20 credits)
Graduates of this programme will have the skills to become successful business and marketing professionals. Throughout the course, students will also have the opportunity to work with professional bodies and employers to gain work experience
This degree can be used for a wide range of positions, including roles in digital communications, customer behaviour and management positions.
Students who graduate with this degree often consider the following postgraduate options:
• Masters in Business Administration (MBA)
• MSc in International Marketing, Strategic Marketing or Digital Marketing
• Postgraduate qualifications with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Chartered Institute of Marketing
Grades BBC at A Level and Grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent qualifications).
For international students, we require an English language level equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or above, with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
If you do not meet the requirements for our three-year course, we also offer a four-year version including a foundation year.
